With a medical career spanning over four decades, Donald C. Siegel, MD, FACS, is a leader in general surgery, family medicine, and modern preventive wellness solutions. He welcomes new and existing patients and their families to his private practice located in the heart of Decatur, Georgia.
Dr. Siegel earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. He then went through his surgical internship at the University of Chicago’s Billings Hospital. After completing his internship, Dr. Siegel gained acceptance into a competitive surgical residency program at the West Side Veterans Hospital in Chicago (currently Jesse Brown VA Medical Center) and the former Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine at the University of Illinois. Before completing his residency, Dr. Siegel was called up for active duty and finished his residency at Keesler Air Force Base.
Early on in his career, Dr. Siegel served as a staff surgeon with the United States Air Force (USAF) at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina and Chief of Professional Services at Chanute Air Force Base. He has received numerous prestigious awards with the USAF and even held the position of general surgery military consultant to the surgeon general of the USAF.
Dr. Siegel ultimately went on to become a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, as well as a board-certified physician through the American Board of Surgery. Because of Dr. Siegel’s dedication to patient care and the ever-changing field of medicine, he continues his education and maintains multiple certifications. Dr. Siegel is certified in laser surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and advanced trauma life support, to name a few.
Throughout his medical career, Dr. Siegel has built a reputation for being a trusted expert. He has spent decades training incoming physicians while working as a clinical assistant professor of surgery at the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Siegel was also previously appointed the Advanced Trauma Life Support, Georgia state faculty position with the American College of Surgeons.
