Did you know that R22 refrigerant is going to be phased out? As of January 1, 2021 the EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency) has prohibited the production and importing of R22 refrigerant because it depletes the ozone layer. The only way R22 refrigerant will be able to be used is if it has been recovered, recycled, or reclaimed.
The alternative to R22 refrigerant is R410A, however, you can not put R410A into a system that requires R22.
What does this mean for you if your AC or Heat Pump takes R22 refrigerant? Keep up proper maintenance. If system is found low on charge, request that technician does a thorough leak search to locate any source of leak(s) in the system. Another option would be to replace your system with a new one.

Did you know that the ancient Greeks originally developed central heating? The Greek architect, Chersiphron, designed The Temple of Artemis (see photo below). This temple of built around 350 BC which included a central heating system. This system was considered an incredible engineering marvel for its time. To create heat, they would use a large fire to heat the air. This would force the air through giant flues that were planted into the ground. These flues would become hot and would heat the floor, and with time, the air. This would allow the entire temple to become warm.
