Sharing from Entergy Arkansas' page, a great explanation as to what Entergy is asking us to do: "Words of wisdom from Entergy Arkansas journeyman lineman Skully Colclough" During this 2nd winter storm heading our way, please be mindful of your energy usage. Also, when it comes to space heaters, do NOT use a power strip or an extension cord! This is a fire hazard! ALWAYS plug the heater directly into an outlet. If the heater cord itself is damaged, do NOT use it. As always, never leave a space heater unattended and remember to keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet away from the heater! Everyone please stay safe! Monteith 'skully' Colclough February 15 at 9:25 PM · Basic way for me to explain how turning things down or off helps the power grid If you have an outlet and you add more things that are in use simultaneously to that outlet the breaker will trip. Now you can reset the breaker but it will trip again as long as all the things plugged in are being used at the same time. If you keep doing this so that everything can run at the same time you could damage your wiring, burn up your breaker and create other problems as well. The best thing to do is to unplug some things, or not use some things from that outlet. That’s what the power companies are asking customers to do. It’s to avoid you losing all the power and create bigger problems for the system. It is being proactive and not reactive. I hope this helps you understand.
