Honoring Work Identity for Adults with Dementia | Enlivant
We are celebrating the 65th wedding anniversary of Thomas and Cecilia today! The two lovebirds met in Allentown, PA and had 450 guests attending their wedding. They have seven children, thirty grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. They both were very active in their community and owned four flower shops. Additionally, Cecilia worked in real estate and Tom was a volunteer firefighter. They both continue to be creative and contribute to Dover Place by maintaining our garden, painting, teaching Wii bowling and card games. Cecilia loves to play games on her computer and Tom continues to paint in the apartment. When asked about the secret to a long, happy marriage, they both stated "when we fight, we resolve quickly and the best part has always been making up."
Dover Place celebrated National Assisted Living Week with a little help from our friends in the community! These family members, friends and organizations have shown us how much they CARE about the staff and residents at Dover Place! The residents gave each staff member angel wing key chains with personal notes, we hosted an outdoor puppy parade with our National Capital Therapy friends, watched a Del Rods Car Parade, enjoyed yummy treats delivered by our partners, arranged autumn flowers donated by the Potpourri Garden Club and continued down along #EnlivantRoute66! We are all essential in meeting one another's needs!

Today we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was a vital leader of the American civil rights movement and a catalyst for change, racial equality, and justice for all.
Dr. King's leadership brought about meaningful progress and his enduring message is a reminder of the importance of servitude. Dr. King once proclaimed to a crowd in Alabama, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?" His call-to-action is more relevant now than it has ever been for our Enlivant community. We have a shared responsibility to help end the pandemic and create a sense of inclusion and belonging for all residents and employees. As an act of service, we call on you to help us protect our communities and each other, and do your part in getting the COVID-19 vaccine when it is available to you.
