Dr. Bakst grew up in Johannesburg South Africa. He received his M.B., B.Ch. from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa and graduated with honors in hematology and genetics. He studied cardiothoracic surgery as part of his residency training in South Africa. He then relocated to the United States where he completed his residency in internal medicine at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Bakst went on to study for three additional years at the University of Maryland where he completed his Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowships. Dr. Bakst is double Board Certified and has been practicing as a Pulmonologist with Medical Specialists of the Palm Beaches, Inc and loves his patients. He is a member of the AMA, ATS, and ACCP. Dr. Bakst was recognized by his peers as a top outstanding Pulmonologist and featured in the 2009 Florida Edition of Super Doctors.
