Dr. Andre Matthews is a highly skilled, board-certified orthopedic surgeon with more than 30 years of experience providing expert, attentive nonsurgical and surgical care to patients with musculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Matthews understands firsthand that orthopedic injuries and age-related joint degeneration are often quite painful and debilitating. In high school, he suffered multiple football injuries to his right knee, injured it again in college, and later in life had knee replacement surgery and a revision. As such, he can truly empathize with his patients, most of whom are older adults. He was inspired to pursue a career in medicine by his mother and father, who were old-fashioned family care doctors in a small town. Dr. Matthews credits his hometown orthopedist for mentoring him and encouraging him to pursue a career in orthopedic surgery. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, he completed his internship at Maricopa Medical Center and orthopedic surgery residency at Phoenix Affiliated Orthopedic. In 1985, he established his orthopedic practice in Mesa.
