OK, here is a more detailed bulleted list of features for each test! Hope this helps. Let me know your questions.
Many of you asked about testing for Covid-19. Here is a visual explanation of the differences. Nose Swabs, Oral, or Saliva test for the virus particles in infectious individuals. Finger Stick or Venipuncture test for immunoglobulins in the blood, a sign of an active disease and immunity. See the infographic for additional explanation. I will be posting additional slides for deeper review.
Social Distancing MUST be replaced with Universal Testing coupled with Focused Isolation
This strategy will save trillions of dollars and many lives ruined by the rapidly evolving economic depression caused by Social Distancing. A number of Covid-19 test producers received EUAs (Emergency Use Authorization) from the FDA in the past 2 weeks, resulting in many testing facilities coming online in the next 2 weeks. The strategy should include ramping up the testing capacity to immediately isolate those who have the virus but have no symptoms. By some studies, as many as 50% of those carrying the virus are asymptomatic. Those with the Covid-19 virus must be isolated for 2 wks and retested prior to re-entering society.
The other test, critical to healing our society is “Serologic” testing. A simple finger stick test is becoming available to distinguish those people who already have immunity to this virus.
Those with immunity can rapidly re-enter the workforce.
The Administration and the FDA have done admirable work in rapidly relaxing the rules, allowing swift ramping up of testing. The time is right to begin pivoting away from Social Distancing as extensive testing becomes available.
