We are opening our practice tomorrow Tuesday May 5. We thank all of you for your patience with us through all of this.
Please be patient as we try to get everyone worked back in. We will do our best to get you called but feel free to call us if we don’t get you called soon.
We did not receive our supplies this week. So we will not be opening on Monday. We have some things in the works and are shooting for Tuesday. We know you all are as anxious as we are to get back to work. We just have to make sure everyone is protected.
As I said last week things will be different when we go back. We will have you call when you arrive and we will either call you or come out to get you when we are ready. Only the patient will be allowed in, except in the case of a minor child then one parent may go back. We ask that all patients wear a mask or face covering to protect others that may be in the building. This will of course be taken off while we work on you and then put back on before you leave. We will take your temperature and give you hand sanitizer as you enter. All health history updates will be done over the phone to limit the amount of time you are in the office.
When we call to make/confirm appointments the girls will be asking you a lot of questions. This is to keep everyone safe. If you have a fever, cough, loss of taste or smell, been exposed to someone with covid etc. we ask you to reschedule your appointment.
Also remember to let your kids know we are going to look very different. Some of the girls are opting to wear hair caps, along with face shields, masks, and long gowns we may look a little scary. For some littles going to the dentist is already scary this might add to it. Last thing I want to do is cause a traumatic experience so if you think your child will be frightened please reschedule their appointment or talk to them and look for some pictures of health care workers online so you can show them how we might look. This could be especially triggering for those with sensory issues or developmental challenges. Just keep it in mind if you have an upcoming appointment. Let us know what we can do to make things go more smoothly or reappoint if you think it will be too much.
Last, with all the added PPE we have to wear we will be dropping the temperature in the office. I jokingly told the girls today you will probably be able to hang meat in our office. I recommend bringing a jacket or blanket if you get cold easily, wouldn’t recommend tank tops or shorts. My poor receptionists may be in winter coats.
As always if you have any problems feel free to call me at home. 273-9109
We are shooting for an opening date of May 4. However that is dependent on us getting our orders of PPE. We will now be wearing face shields, hopefully N95 masks or something comparable etc. I have also purchased new suction that needs to be installed.
I know many of you are very anxious to get your teeth taken care of I just have to make sure I am keeping my staff as well as my patients as safe as possible. As many of you know PPE has been limited and right now what is available is going to the hospitals. Add to that the fact that we donated masks, gloves and disinfectant to the hospital when this all started and we have a bit of a shortage.
We have a list of everyone that has called over the last 5-6 weeks that we have been closed and will be calling all of you to get you scheduled as soon as we can.
Things will be different. When we call to schedule/ confirm your appointment we will be asking you a lot of questions. Please don’t take offense. We have to take every precaution for ourselves and everyone else that will be coming behind you. We will be asking you to stay in your car and call us when you arrive. We will come get you when we are ready. We will begin by taking your temp before you enter the building. For kids please talk to them and let them know we will look very different. The face shields and long PPE gowns and masks on at all times may be very scary for kids that are used to seeing our faces. Also with kids we will allow one parent back with a minor child. Siblings need to stay in the car.
We will explain all of this again before you come in for your appointment.
As always thank you for your loyalty and trust.
God Bless all of you! Keep praying for an end to this madness!!!
Ok so update for our patients....
When will we be able to go back to work? In short we are not sure. I am on several different committees with the Oklahoma Dental Association and we have been having all kinds of meetings to figure that out.
Here is our main concern....
All the research coming in shows that Dental professionals are at the highest risk of contracting Covid-19. Even more so than Doctors and nurses. When you come to see us we are working in your mouth...right where that virus is living just ready to get out. Our hand pieces run at a high rate of RMPs with water flowing and that causes aerosol. Even if you have no symptoms of Covid-19 you may be carrying the virus and we just sent it all over our room and all over ourselves. They are recommending that we have the same PPE equipment that the hospitals have. See a problem here? The hospitals are already short on PPE how are we supposed to get what we need?
We are hoping and praying to be able to start seeing patients the first week of May but my staff have already voiced concerns about going to work without proper PPE. Dentistry is really between a rock and a hard place right now.
If you have an emergency please call me at home 273-9109. Please remember that what you think is an emergency May not fall under what actually is an emergency but I will do what I can to get you comfortable.
As my staff call to cancel appointments please be understanding. We hate this as much (maybe more) than you do.
When we do go back things will be very different. We will ask you to wait in your cars and will come get you when we are ready. We will be taking temperatures, only one person allowed back in a room at a time, except in the case of a minor child. So it will be different and we may seem unorganized and scattered, please remember this is uncharted territory for us! We are doing the best we can.
As always thank you for trusting us with your dental needs .
Our office will be closed until April 30. (Unless we get a miracle!!!).
We can see emergency patients, unfortunately what you think is an emergency may not meet the criteria that actually constitute an emergency.
If you are having a problem please call me at home 273-9109 and we will see what I can do to help you
Ok so working with our new guidelines. We will be seeing emergency patients only. We are taking this week by week but are pretty sure we will be closed for the next 2 weeks. We are praying it will not last any longer.
If you have an emergency try my office first. Some of the ladies will be there off and on to try and get some things done. If there is no answer then you can call the house 273-9109. I can’t make appointments from home but I can hopefully help with whatever problem you are having. I may have you text me a picture of the problem and see what I can do.
I know this is frustrating. Please know that my staff and I will do everything possible to get everyone seen once this is over.
All I ask is that you be patient and understanding in these matters. Even though we are scared of the economic ramifications this will have on our practice, Becky and I feel that it is our responsibility to this community to do our part to support staying at home. We support our Hospital and all of the Doctors and Nurses that are about to get put on the front lines with this virus.
We are praying for the safety and health of our community during this outbreak. We encourage you all to do the same.
Just had an entire afternoon on our Hygiene Book cancel. If you need your teeth cleaned give us a call 273-8370.

Give Kids A Smile
Happy Veteran’s Day to all that have served! If it wasn’t for the brave men and women in our military we would not enjoy the freedoms we have. We owe you all a debt of gratitude.
My Grandpa landed on the beaches of Normandy and my Dad served in the Navy.
My wife had 4 uncles that served during WWII and my father in law was in the Army during the Korean conflict.
Thank you to everyone who has served!
Yesterday was the lightest Give Kids A Smile we have had in the 18 years we have been doing it. But we were still able to do $11,550 worth of dental work for kids who needed it. We love doing this! It is our favorite day of the year! The kids are so much fun!
Thank you to all the parents that brought there kids in yesterday.
Mark your calendar for the first Friday in February next year. We will be doing it again!!!!!!
Give Kids A Smile. We still have openings if you child needs to be seen!
If you know any kids that are in need of dental work, please tell their parents about this event. We still have a lot of open appointments. Completely free dental work for kids from Pre-k to 12th grade.
