Miracle Monday goes out to strong and brave, Julian.
Julian is a 2 year old twin and brother of three who was born with a cleft lip and his pediatrician, Dr. Rich recommended Julian and his family to Dr. Yates, Medical Director for the Cranial and Facial Clinic at El Paso Children’s Hospital and Dr. Holguin, Board Certified Pediatric Dentist who works hand and hand with our EPCH Cranial and Facial team.
Julian underwent a few surgeries leading to a cleft repair and lip repair. “Dr. Yates and Dr. Holguin were always a call or text away, they are amazing. It is such a blessing to know all doctors are local. They encouraged me to build a Facebook family support group to connect families in El Paso who’s lives have been affected by cleft lip or palate called Embracing
Smiles of El Paso. Doctors are very involved. They have become a part of our family”. - Julian’s mom

I can’t, and would rather not, imagine a life without the care that Dr. Jimenez provides to his patients and their families.
When I found Dr. J, I was in the darkest place of my life thus far. My first child was born with craniosynostosis, but despite constant inquiries to every medical professional we saw, my concerns about my daughter’s headshape were dismissed as positional plagiocephaly that would correct itself in due time. I fought, for months, to get someone to take me seriously. That all changed the moment I made contact with Dr. Jimenez’s team. I felt heard. I felt like family. I felt at home.
Dr. Jimenez and Dr. Yates performed an endoscopic strip craniectomy on my darling daughter Emma on June 2, 2020. We are only 3.5 months post-op, but our lives are completely changed.
Thanks to Dr. J, my daughter’s brain has ample room to grow. And as an added perk, her beautiful face has become even more beautiful. This mama is infinitely grateful. 💜💜💜

As September comes to an end I want to remind you all about Craniosynostosis as September is Craniosynostosis awareness month. This is Karly’s Journey. 💜💜💜
Karly was diagnosed with right Coronal craniosynostosis when she was 7 months old. Due to her coronal suture being fused, karly had some deformation in her face. We were getting ready for the big surgery they usually do on kids with cranio at her age. But during that time God sent us a blessing! He sent over Dr. Jimenez to El a Paso. He offered to do the less invasive surgery on karly at 13 months old! With the help of Dr. Yates, the rest of the cranio team and El Paso Childrens Hospital it was a success! Karly has been doing helmet therapy for about 15 months now and you would never know she had any deformations! we truly appreciate all the help and support we get from Dr. Jimenez, Dr. Yates, the cranio team and El Paso Children’s Hospital. Any question or concern we have they Always address it. El Paso Children's Hospital Dr David M Yates DMD, MD, FACS
