Our tooth enamel is made up of a dense — yet porous — network of minerals. And although they typically share the same hue and color, it’s possible for some areas of enamel to have different shades. Or worse, scars and demineralization, which can stand out as unsightly yellow, brown, or white spots.

HERE IT IS.... my very special Halloween inspired #MakeoverMonday. It's so much fun giving my patients custom fangs for Halloween! 🎃 I have some patients that do it yearly and absolutely love it!
This patient was going to a Halloween party and came in specifically to get these fangs. He liked them so much he kept them on for an entire week! Eventually he returned to my office so I could remove them! Now he makes this a yearly part of his costume, and I love it!
NOTE: original veneers NOT done by me! But the fangs... yup those are by me!
Finally feeling like myself again... (it only took a year 🤷🏻♀️)
keeping fresh blooms around the house, cooking again, keeping the house clean. Of course some days are better than others but I finally feel like I’ve adjusted to my new normal as a newer mom.... during a pandemic.
Tonight I’m meal prepping for my work week. I’ve always found that taking care of myself ahead of time pays huge dividends. Making my protein smoothie the night before, prepping my food the night before, putting all my clothes out the night before makes it so I’m taking care of myself ahead of time, and I don’t have to rush last minute to find clean clothes or find something to eat.
And once I’m done with all of that... I’ll probably indulge in watching the newest episode of the Bachelorette.

A smile is a curve that makes a lot of things straight 😷
So this patient came in and wanted to enhance his smile. He had crowns that weren’t the best color for him, many of them looked different from each other. He just wanted something that was uniform and he wanted to be proud of his smile.
We changed out his front 6 crowns and look what a difference it made! Even though many of the teeth were root canaled, and dark, his new smile looks so vibrant... and just updated!
A lot of patients ask me how many teeth I recommend doing... I always tell my patients I depends on what they want. For my patients that want a big difference and a completely uniform smile I talk to them about doing as many as you see when you smile.
So for this patient, that would mean 8-10 teeth on the top. However, you can see with even just the 6 teeth.... the outcome is excellent!

This patient wanted her teeth to be bigger, fuller, and whiter but to still look natural.
This little behind-the-scenes video shows a tiny bit of how the porcelain restorations are put in. Before this, we try them in on the patient and allow the patient to look at them in the mirror to make sure he/she is happy with them, and only after the patient approves, we put them in.
Love that we were able to enhance this patients smile just in time for the holiday season! Looking forward to sharing before and after photos so you can see that we made the teeth bigger, fuller, AND still were able to keep them in proportion with the patient’s facial features and bone structure.
Dentistry really is an art... and cosmetic treatments like this have a lot to do with positioning the teeth in the correct position to find the right balance within the boundaries of the face. A smile that blends in and stands out at the same time is key!

This Thanksgiving is so different than all the others for me. I can’t explain it but having my own little family had changed my life. I’m so grateful for all the experiences this past year.
I know some of you are spending this year alone, some of you have had the most stressful year, but there’s always a lot to be thankful for. In difficult times I like to remember that God works in mysterious ways and that some how things are happening for me. If you’re feeling lonely today, or disappointed that you’re not with family/enjoying the holidays as you normally would, hopefully you can adopt that thought. Or at least find a reason to be at peace today and take a break.

When a vacation turns into a trauma .... this patient fell on a rock while on vacation and broke her two front teeth. (This case was from the pre-covid days when we could actually travel)....
2 porcelain veneers were used to cover and correct the fractured teeth. My favorite part about this is that during her post op the patient said, “They are like my original teeth but with an upgrade.”
That’s like music to my ears. Veneers are great for correcting chipped/broken teeth, and they can usually be completed in 2 appointments.
This patient recently brought a friend to my office. And most of the consult was about how natural her teeth ended up looking. So many patients are worried about their teeth looking like chiclets, but when done right, veneers can look like natural teeth.

What you are looking at in this photo is actually an implant tooth! You can see in the top photo, the restoration in place is very dark, wide, short, and catches your eye.
A beautiful smile should stand out and disappear all at the same time. When there’s too much attention on one tooth the way this patient presented to me, it draws attention away from the eyes and the face and directly to the one tooth that stands out.
You can see that in the after photo, her implant crowns looks very natural and blends in nicely with the rest of her teeth.
It’s hard enough to make one front porcelain crown match every other tooth in the mouth, it’s a whole different set of complications when you need to get an implant crown to match every other natural tooth in the mouth. It takes a great level of skill to master the techniques that go into this. It also takes an experienced eye and a great team! #MakeoverMonday😷

LOOK CLOSELY AT THIS ONE! So many people have white spots on their teeth similar to this.
Some people are born with them, some people develop them after having braces, or just over time. And I’m the past, the only way to get rid of/hide these spots were to place veneers or crowns over the teeth.
There’s a system I use for my patients that is super conservative that can remove the white spots. No numbing, no drilling, no filling required for this procedure!

“Are you there yet? Where are you?” was a phone call I was getting every 30 minutes while on the road.... On my way to see Napoleon for the first time.
I still remember the day I picked him up. I drove in hail to San Diego (it rarely even rains here let alone hail) with one of my closest friends (@glamoptometrist) to see him in person. What normally takes an hour took 4 hours because the weather and traffic were so bad. Every 30 minutes my friend and I got phone calls from our worried friends and family. Even the breeder called and was worried! HAHA.
When we got there, I picked him up, drove him home, and gave him his first bath and my life changed forever. He started off as my little fur baby that I thought was just the cutest 2 pound ball of fluff and he quickly turned into my best friend. He’s been there for me through thick and thin. On every hard day he’s sat by me and made me feel I’m not alone. On the happy days he has celebrated with me.
