Gautam Yagnik, M.D., is a Board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute and a member of Baptist Health Medical Group, an organization of more than 180 physicians in multiple specialties closely aligned with Baptist Health South Florida. Dr. Yagnik specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow and knee. He is chief of orthopedic surgery at West Kendall Baptist Hospital. He is team physician for the NHL's Florida Panthers and medical director for the Escape to Miami, 13.1 Miami Beach and 13.1 Fort Lauderdale marathons. He was recently appointed clinical assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Florida International University's Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and also serves as assistant team physician for FIU. He has provided orthopedic coverage for the BCS National Championship Game, FedEx Orange Bowl, Sony Open and NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Dr. Yagnik earned his undergraduate degree at Duke University, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated at the top of his class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. During medical school he performed surgical research that yielded two prestigious grants from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Dr. Yagnik completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. There he was elected administrative chief resident and was given the Willard Award for the most outstanding resident. He completed his sports medicine fellowship at UHZ Sports Medicine Institute.
