About

Dr. Howard R. Bromley received his medical degree from the University of Miami and is Board Certified in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA), with Special Qualifications in Critical Care. He previously held Special Qualifications in Pain Management (also from the ABA). He completed an Anesthesiology residency and Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Bromley has practiced medicine for nearly forty years and has had many different roles over the years including: Associate Professor and the Assistant Medical Director of the Surgical Intensive Care and Medical Director of Respiratory Therapy and the Nutritional Care Service at the Medical University of South Carolina; Chief of the Anesthesiology Service, Medical Director, Surgical ICU, and Medical Director of the Chronic Pain Clinic at the Ralph H. Johnson Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC); Chief of Staff at the Memphis VAMC, Chronic Pain Management Interventionalist at the Memphis Pain Management Group (MPMG); Medical Director of the Pain Management Group (PMG) Pain Clinic, Adjunct Associate Professor of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Management at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center; Medical Director of Health One, PLLC, Medical Director of Cordova Pain Specialists, and Medical Director of the Great River Medical Center’s Pain Clinic. Before he joined private practice, Dr. Bromley, a retired Army Reservist enlisted in the Army Medical Corps during Desert Shield and was commissioned as a Captain (Promotable). He was deployed to Ft. Stewart, GA in where he served as the Chief, Intensive Care Service and was a staff anesthesiologist at Winn Army Community Hospital. While deployed to Ft. Campbell in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Colonel Bromley was asked to open a pain clinic to care for wounded soldiers. He became the Co-Director of the Pain Clinic at the Blanchfield Army Medical Center and also served as a staff anesthesiologist. He served as the Chief of Professional Services, 75th Combat Support Hospital, Company B-, at Millington, TN until he retired from the Army in 2016.

Of all the hats that he has worn in three decades, Dr. Bromley enjoys Pain Management the most as he obtains great satisfaction in seeing his patients improve their overall quality of life. He is a member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP), the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and the American Society of Anesthesiology.
