Jose Vazquez, M.D., is a primary care physician with Baptist Health Primary Care and a member of Baptist Health Medical Group, an organization of more than 180 physicians in multiple specialties integrated within Baptist Health South Florida. He specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of health issues, including hypertension, diabetes, and other respiratory conditions. Dr. Vazquez received his medical degree from the Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, Conn., an affiliate of Yale University School of Medicine, where he was honored with the Resident Teacher of the Year Award in 1993, the American College of Physicians’ Community Based Teacher of the Year Award in 2000, and the Attending of the Year Award in 2003. He has over 20 years of experience and has served as attending physician at Mount Sinai Medical Center on Miami Beach, where he was a member of the teaching staff of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. He is Board-certified in internal medicine and is an active member of the American College of Physicians who has lectured on such topics as lung disease and marine poisons and prevention. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
