Jose Mena, M.D., is a physiatrist with Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute and a member of Baptist Health Medical Group, an organization of more than 180 physicians in multiple specialties closely aligned with Baptist Health South Florida. He specializes in diagnosing and treating spine and back injuries, diseases and disorders. He performs non-operative and interventional spine procedures, including epidural steroid injections; intra-articular facet injections; medical branch blocks and radiofrequency ablation; discograms; minimally invasive lumbar decompression (percutaneous lumbar laminotomy); selective nerve root blocks; and peripheral joint/bursa injections in the shoulder, knee, elbow, hand/wrist and ankle and foot. Dr. Mena received his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in Rio Piedras. He completed an internship at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in San Juan, and a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Boston University Medical Center, where he was also chief resident. In addition, he completed a fellowship in pain medicine at the University of Louisville Health Sciences Center in Kentucky. He is Board-certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and holds a subspecialty certification in pain medicine.
