I love talking with parents and seeing them realize that guilt has no place in coming to the dentist, that fear is unnecessary, and that we make decisions regarding their kids’ oral health TOGETHER. Even more fun is connecting with my pint-sized patients (who are sometimes actually taller than I am, since I only top 5 ft. when wearing heels).
Greeting my kiddos 1st, before I talk to mom or dad, is key to making sure that my patients are comfortable and free from anxiety – and what comes next is all about behavior management. I set my patients up for a lifetime of healthy oral habits, and as they approach adulthood, visiting the dentist will be an experience that they enjoy rather than run from!
