Rosendo Collazo, D.O., is an internal medicine physician with Baptist Health Primary Care, a part of Baptist Health Medical Group, an organization of more than 180 physicians in multiple specialties closely aligned with Baptist Health South Florida. He is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and at Florida International University's Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Dr. Collazo received his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and served as chief medical resident in the department of medicine's clinical faculty. Dr. Collazo was chief medical officer and deputy executive director at Camillus Health Concern, which provides healthcare services for the homeless. During this time, he served in the National Health Service Corps, developed clinical programs achieving NCQA level 3 certification as a patient-centered medical home coordinator, implemented electronic health records and remained an active teacher of medical students and residents. His specific interests include chronic disease management of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Collazo received the Blue Foundation Sapphire Award for excellence in healthcare for the underserved, the Jessie Trice Heroes Award and the Outstanding Service Local Hero Award from the Healthcare for the Homeless Clinicians Network, and was a finalist for the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce's Health Care Heroes Award.
