If you’re looking for a consistent finish, a shell mill is a good choice. Shell mills are also known as face mills, so they are well-known for quality face milling operations. Shell mills have several inserts on the outer edge of the cutter, so when the cutter first hits the material, it removes a small amount of stock – depending on your depth of cut. As the cutter passes over the workpiece, the other teeth actually work to remove stock that was left as a bur or as a result of the springing of the workpiece or cutter.
A dead center is a solid lump of hardened and ground steel with a point on the short end. A live center is a mechanism that contains a taper shank housing that goes inside the tailstock spindle, with a bearing supported shaft within itself that spins true to the axis of the spindle, and had the point, so it mimics the function of a dead center while allowing much higher speeds without burning up from the heat generated by friction.

BT40 to ISO40 Adapter
Unique product to DZ Sales
The BT40 to ISO40 Adapter allows the machinist to use the same CNC holder in a conventional ISO40 machine by simply changing the retention knob/pull stud for this cheap but effective adapter.
So instead of buying a new holder, you just purchase the OTT retention knob/pull stud and exchange the pull stud to convert the holder from BT40 to a standard SK holder for a conventional machine.
Why use a half point / notched dead center? The half point dead center is used when tool clearance is needed at the start of the cut. It allows you to move further to the right without hitting. You can also make the diameter of your work smaller because of this extra clearance. It's a handy center to have.
