Why is it important to preplan the demolition and backhoe work?
No matter how many trenching, shoring, and backfilling or demolition jobs we have done in the past, it is important to approach each new job with the utmost care and preparation.
What safety factors do we consider when bidding on a job?
Before preparing a bid, we will want to know as much as possible about the job-site.
A checklist may prove helpful when we consider specific site conditions such as the following: Traffic, - Proximity and physical conditions of nearby structures, - Soil, - Surface and groundwater, - Location of the water table, - Overhead and underground utilities, and Weather.
How can we avoid hitting underground utility lines and pipes during excavation or demolition work?
Determine the approximate location of utility installations-sewer, telephone, fuel, electric, and water lines or any other underground installations.
Utility locator (811) companies must be contacted to inform them of the proposed work. Expected response time is usually 3 to 4 days.
Companies or owners must locate the exact work area and mark them with white flags or white paint. This step needs to be completed before utilities are located.
Earth Masters Inc is not responsible for any underground utilities or other installations.
