This is what impresses me about Karate! It’s not about fighting. The real fight lies in oneself. I know plenty of guys that don’t need karate to protect themselves. A matter of fact, I chuckle when Karate guys tell their war stories. But to build up your spirit to face the difficult challenges that life throws at you, that’s priceless! This was written by Shoshin Nagamine who founded the system I teach. If people followed his principles the world would be a better place. These are his words.

Yesterday we did a side-by-side comparison of the Kata Gojushiho. Dylan Busch who learned the Kata for the first time yesterday, preformed the Matsubayashi version and Badyr Aschkar preformed the Shotokan version. Badyr is a fourth Dan in Shotokan and now studying Matsubayashi-Ryu. He trains at my Kings Park location with my partner Sensei Rick Kaufman. I first met this talented martial artist when he was 19. He is now 40 and getting old😂 Great job by both!!!

I Never thought where karate would take me after I achieved my Black Belt, but I am truly grateful to the people who have made a difference in my journey. When I look back their are so many people who have made my experience so memorable. Now putting my students on the same journey is very rewarding! To my past and present students, Thank you!

Came across this today thanks to Miguel Da Luz! This was the All Matsubayashi Weekend held last year in Florida. It was a fantastic weekend thanks to the following Sensei’s who assisted me sharing their knowledge! Terrance L.
