While the flu vaccine is not always 100% effective, we do know that those who get the flu after having been vaccinated are less likely to become significantly ill, be hospitalized, or have serious complications. Historically, up to 80% of influenza-associated pediatric deaths have occurred in unvaccinated children 6months and older. We recommend all children ages 6 months and older receive their flu vaccine.
