If possible keep your vehicles in a garage. In most cases it is an insurance claim, but not all and can cost upward of $2500 because they are factory only replacements. Also- if you see an unmarked Uhaul Van with side doors in Santee, or anywhere for that matter- call the Police. That vehicle was spotted on camera late in the eve, they were successful at cutting a cat off an Excursion, no plates on film unfortunately but he did file a police report.
