Meet the newest member of the ELOS team, Sarah Mays. As one of our Treatment Coordinators, Sarah brings a wealth of client service experience and patient interaction to her role. She is excited to work with our referral partners and patients alike to coordinate treatment solutions per doctors’ recommendations that address patients’ overall dental health. When Sarah is not at the practice, she enjoys spending time with her husband and family, cooking, biking, and kayaking. Job Responsibilities:
Member of a team who ensures patient care is provided in a safe, compassionate and efficient manner. All team members assist in preparing patient treatment rooms, instruments and materials; welcoming patients and preparing them for treatment; assisting the surgeon by passing/handling instruments and materials into the surgical field during procedures.
Job Duties:
-Prepare treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
-Prepare patient for surgical procedure by welcoming, comforting and seating the patient.
-Sterilize instrumentation and deliver to treatment areas.
-Set up instrumentation in treatment area for various procedures.
-Assist during surgical procedure: for the procedure and for patient airway support during procedures with IV sedation/general anesthesia.
-Maintain safe and clean work environment.
-Assist during medical/dental emergencies.
-Document anesthesia care during and after procedures.
-Educate patient with post-operative instructions.
-Document patient treatment in electronic medical record (EMR).
-Maintain patient confidence and at all times, HIPPA compliance.
-Protect patients, employees and self by following infection-control policies and protocols.
-Maintain professional and technical knowledge by completing on-the-job training requirements and/or attending continuing education opportunities as advised by the surgeon.
-Perform other duties as assigned or required

The new home for Edison Lakes Oral Surgery / Oral Surgery Michiana is coming together nicely. It's fun to see structures emerge and our vision for the new practice come to fruition. This week our building team @APEXDesignBuild.Net is working on finalizing the framing, installing the HVAC system, insulating the building and more. If mother nature allows, the roof installation may be completed this week or next. The left photo below details our new patient discharge area that will be under a generous, overarching canopy.
