Edmonds Tree Service was here this morning to remove a hazardous dead Ash Tree from behind our restroom facility at The Preserve!
Twice a year our team performs hazard tree assessments. Around 2008, around 1,500 Ash trees were killed by the invasive Emerald Ash Borer larvae. Some trees are kept, as they are not a hazard to people or property. Dead Ash Trees serve as a vital part of the ecosystem at CCWP. The dead trees provide critical nesting cavities for diverse birds and small mammals.
The trees our Stewardship Manager and Property Manager cannot fell on their own, are then contracted out to Edmonds for removal. Their state-of-the-art machinery allows for very low impact of the diverse understory vegetation found in our woodlands. Piece by piece, the trees are chopped up and dropped to the ground, instead of a large felling of a tree, which can impact surrounding healthy trees and vegetation in a negative way.
With the removal of this hazardous tree, we are now able to safely open our restrooms for the year. Please follow social distancing guidelines when using the restrooms, with a maximum capacity of two people at a time. Notices are posted on the doors of the bathrooms.
See you in The Preserve!
