Challenging Choices, Difficult Decisions: Finding Strength in the Pandemic
Thanks to Melrose Kind for providing thoughtful recognition to our staff, who enjoyed treats and gift cards throughout the day. Our patients also received beautiful carnations and handmade cards from families in the community on their meal trays.
As the holidays approach, families limited to smaller gatherings may be deciding which members outside of the household, if any, to include in their modified tradition. And, the earlier elders know what to expect during the holiday season, the better, according to Dr. Kathryn Zioto, Medical Director of Community Counseling Services at MelroseWakefield Healthcare.
“We all want to gather as a group, but there’s a very real risk,” Zioto said. “It’s a difficult situation, but it’s a conversation that we all need to have.”

76 vaccinated healthcare superheroes are Super Bowl bound!
Today we celebrated #GoRed as part of American #HeartMonth. Thanks to our many staff who dressed in red in helping to increase heart health awareness.
Our COVID-19 vaccine clinic for MelroseWakefield Healthcare patients age 75 and older continues to be a place of great hope and inspiration...just ask 103-year old Mona Jeanne Somerville, who received her vaccine on Thursday!
Mona Jeanne has lived through two pandemics, two world wars and the Great Depression, and is looking forward to spending time with her 27 great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren once the pandemic is over.
