My daughter Addison and I are sitting at the table, brainstorming ways to help kids and families stuck inside because of the smoke find fun things to do together. Here are a couple of our ideas. Feel free to add your own - stay safe, and make it a great day! 1. Grab all the legos in the house, put them in a pile and build a unique family creation 2. Do a puzzle 3. Set up an obstacle course and race your parents! 4. Make cookies...healthy"ish" cookies. 5. Do a pushup challenge (this was NOT Addison's favorite idea) 6. Create a dance to a music video on TV 7. Play games with a physical activity twist...like Twister, The Floor is Lava, or Simon Says. 8. Mom's idea is to have kids clean their rooms :-) 9. Read a book alone or with the family. 10. Mom and dad...take a nap. Add some more of your favorite ideas in the comments below!

What does a Physical Therapist do when we get an unforeseen snow day - eat donuts and sit around?? (although the donuts do sound good...) Absolutely NOT!!! We use the opportunity to better ourselves and learn more about how best to take care of our patients. Just spent a great 45 minutes watching the #BetterClinicianProject and a recent interview with #EbonieRio who is an expert and well known researcher in the area of tendon issues. If you have tendon pain or think you might, make sure you see a skilled Physical Therapist! We can set up a plan to improve your function, decrease your pain, and get you doing the things you want! Give us a call today for a consultation. (The volleyball jump is one of the highest loading activities for the patella tendon! - and that's a great thing - nothing at all wrong with it - our bodies are fantastic adapters to stress - #thebodyisawesome)

WARNING If you choose to take a look at this blog post, please know there is some strong language at the end and while, it’s nothing over the top, it’s there and I don’t want to offend, so consider yourself warned. This post has less to do with healthcare and physical therapy and more to do with making good choices with regards to being a good human and engaging properly on social media. The simple steps below are all great thoughts for any type of interpersonal communication but seem even more relevant when dealing with social media, online, and/or texting. I’m posting this because I think it’s relevant and was an important message. TO SUM UP: Steps for improving your social media presence. 1. Stop trying to win 2. Stop engaging as much 3. Stop assuming the worst 4. Stop spreading B….. I love circuit work. As an endurance athlete, I like the quick change of exercise and demand coupled with hard short efforts. This workout was put together with a focus on movement patterns commonly encountered in snow sports like skiing, snowboarding and to some extent cross country skiing. You'll need some basic weights, from 5-20#'s based on your comfort level and a resistance band to go around your knees. Get creative if you don't have the equipment or just do the movement without the resistance. 6 exercises in 7-8minutes If you are a beginner only repeat the circuit 1-2 times. If you consider yourself at an intermediate fitness level and have been working out for at least a few months already repeat the circuit 3-4x. If you just want to hurt - then 5+. Have fun. https://youtu.be/Vfl5usw5Omk YOUTUBE.COM Snowsport Circuit!
Great post - I use this idea all the time when explaining pain and recovery. The Sports Physio January 28 at 7:18 AM · 👌CIRCLES👌 . This is one of my most used analogies for explaining why things hurt or suck at times! I find it a quick clear and simple explanation that is often understood by most However it’s not 100% correct or accurate and isn’t the only reason for why things hurt It also doesn’t want to be used as a excuse to blow throu or brush off a full and thorough history and examination of any pain It’s also not to be used to dismiss patients perceptions or understanding of what they think Rather it’s just another way to reassure and reconsider pain and why things suck! #Physio #physiotherapist #physiotherapy #physicaltherapy #sportsphysio #sportsphysiotherapy #trainer #personaltrainer #coach #strengthcoach #osteopath #osteopathy #chiropractic #chiropractor #sportstherapy #sportstherapist #rehab #therapy #myotherapy #kinesiotherapy #exercisephysiology #exercisephysiologist #dptstudent #shouldercomplex #cantgowronggettingstrong #respectthesteps
