Mike LaZazzera took over the reins for the New York Apple Core, a total of four games into the 2019-20 season. As the year progressed, his team got better, finishing the year off with a record of 6-5-2 after the January Showcase. Unfortunately the late surge was too little too late to get New York into the playoffs, but served as some nice momentum for the coach to bring with him into the offseason.

This partnership continues to grow our relationships with boys and girls that play hockey at the youth levels. Our mission to help student-athletes reach their goals at whatever level that may be. EJP provides athletes access to an affordable platform to build an online resume and profile they can share with coaches, scouts and even prospective employers.
EJP helps our student-athletes get better exposure and EJP profiles rank quickly in google searches for the athlete's name which is a key component to the recruiting process after talking to hundreds of college coaches. We are looking forward to helping many NJ Freeze players for years to come.

The United States Premier Hockey League recognized two of our players during the Detroit Showcase. Here's what they said.
Riley Vertosnik- 2000’ Forward, Lake Erie Bighorns- The 20-year-old is a two-way forward that should get some division 3 interest. He has a nose for the puck and competes every shift. Had a very nice goal in the net front as he was able to grab a rebound. On the penalty kill he had a big block that sprung a breakaway. He should be able to carve out a role on a D3 roster. Bradley Difonzo- 2001’ Goaltender, Lake Erie Bighorns- Difonzo is a big goaltender who stays on his feet a lot longer than most goalies his size. He is super aggressive and athletic. He takes up a lot of the net and when the play breaks down he has the ability to battle to make a save. He was solid this weekend posting a 91.5 save percentage. Way to go!!
Everyone's path is different. You never know where it will take you. But we know this....If you stop working hard, you will NEVER get there....Great job Doug and the best of luck in all of your future endeavors.

The Lake Erie Bighorns defeated the Toledo Cherokee 3-2. Todd Smith lead off the scoring with an assist from Zack Kent. Zack Kent scored the 2nd goal with assists from Kinsly Trivosonno and Jake Difonzo. Winning goal was scored by Josh Tomasi assisted by Jadon Barron with just 5 seconds left in the game. Brad Difonzo had 32 saves. Way to go Bighorns! The two teams play again tomorrow at 11 am.

Youth, High School and Travel sports are in serious trouble. Our student/athletes are suffering. Travel, AAU, personal trainers/coaches continue, but we are losing “the be true to your school/team” mentality.
LET'S ALL TAKE NOTICE AND RECOGNIZE!!!
When you cancel sports you don’t just cancel opportunities to compete. When you cancel sports, you cancel the 15 minutes before practice, when everyone is in that transition mode from class to training. That’s where you see kids at their most honest.
When you cancel sports, you cancel that 6am training time when an athlete is around an adult that they KNOW cares about them
When you cancel sports, you cancel an athlete's motivation to eat healthy.
When you cancel sports, you cancel goal-oriented kids' desire to work on a training plan.
When you cancel sports, you cancel some students' reason to go to school at all. For some kids, it is their only hope and escape from an otherwise miserable life at home.
When you cancel sports, you cancel common ground and time together for engaged parents and their children.
When you cancel sports, you cancel some students' only hope of finding the right fit for college.
When you cancel sports, you cancel opportunities for adults to change kid’s lives for the better.
You cancel opportunities for kids to be seen at their best, but also at their most vulnerable.
When you cancel sports, you cancel trust.
When you cancel sports, you cancel relationships.
When you cancel sports, you cancel CONNECTION.
Look at kids who are successful. They have it. Look at kids that stray- they don’t.
It is that simple. Canceling sports is more than canceling wins and losses. It is cutting kids off from the connection they crave, the connection they need to flourish.
There has never been a time when our population of young people has been more vulnerable. We have to teach them that we are willing to do the hard things.
We have to model that. We have to keep them connected.

Youth, High School and Travel sports are in serious trouble. Our student/athletes are suffering. Travel, AAU, personal trainers/coaches continue, but we are losing “the be true to your school/team” mentality.
LET'S ALL TAKE NOTICE AND RECOGNIZE!!!
When you cancel sports you don’t just cancel opportunities to compete. When you cancel sports, you cancel the 15 minutes before practice, when everyone is in that transition mode from class to training. That’s where you see kids at their most honest.
When you cancel sports, you cancel that 6am training time when an athlete is around an adult that they KNOW cares about them
When you cancel sports, you cancel an athlete's motivation to eat healthy.
When you cancel sports, you cancel goal-oriented kids' desire to work on a training plan.
When you cancel sports, you cancel some students' reason to go to school at all. For some kids, it is their only hope and escape from an otherwise miserable life at home.
When you cancel sports, you cancel common ground and time together for engaged parents and their children.
When you cancel sports, you cancel some students' only hope of finding the right fit for college.
When you cancel sports, you cancel opportunities for adults to change kid’s lives for the better.
You cancel opportunities for kids to be seen at their best, but also at their most vulnerable.
When you cancel sports, you cancel trust.
When you cancel sports, you cancel relationships.
When you cancel sports, you cancel CONNECTION.
Look at kids who are successful. They have it. Look at kids that stray- they don’t.
It is that simple. Canceling sports is more than canceling wins and losses. It is cutting kids off from the connection they crave, the connection they need to flourish.
There has never been a time when our population of young people has been more vulnerable. We have to teach them that we are willing to do the hard things.
We have to model that. We have to keep them connected.
