Dr. Elizabeth Emrath is a pediatric intensivist who specializes in the treatment of critically ill infants, children, and teenagers. She takes care of children with a variety of clinical conditions including respiratory distress and failure, heart disease, kidney failure, liver failure, asthma, seizures, multiple trauma, drowning, traumatic brain injury, sepsis, burns, and poisonings. She also cares for children immediately after surgical procedures and kidney or liver transplants. Her specific clinical interests include sepsis, procedural sedation, nutrition in critical illness, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)., Dr. Emrath started her career in health care by working as a dietitian specializing in the nutritional management of patients with genetic disorders. She then obtained her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. She completed both her residency in general pediatrics and specialty training in pediatric critical care medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She is board certified in general pediatrics., In addition to her clinical interests, Dr. Emrath plans to conduct research on the nutritional needs of infants and children admitted to the intensive care unit.
