Breastfeeding involves the entire family and support system. My goal is to help families identify feeding issues and then implement a workable plan to address their needs. Over the past 20 years of working as a lactation consultant, I have learned from all of the amazing families that there is always more than one way to address feeding difficulties. By balancing the ever present need for evidenced based practice along with the art of breastfeeding, nurturing a baby and parenting, we work together to figure out the best way for each family to solve, or resolve a feeding issue. I bring over 30 years’ experience in maternal/child health. I started as a massage therapist specializing in pregnancy massage, worked for many years as an RN in pediatrics, labor and delivery and postpartum, then as a lactation consultant in private practice, to inpatient and outpatient lactation at hospitals in New York City. My role as lactation educator for both nursing and medical staff contribute to the expertise I bring to my current work. I have been privileged to be at Swedish since 2006, developing the current lactation program we now offer at the Lytle Center for Pregnancy and Newborns at the First Hill campus.
