To end National Rehabilitation Awareness Week with a bang, we celebrated with a Kona Ice truck and dunking booth! Our employees enjoyed refreshing icees in the afternoon and were invited to make a donation to the Brain Injury Adventure Camp in exchange for softballs to knock our CEO, Blake Bunner, into chilly water at the dunking booth. Together, we raised $100 and Blake did not stay dry for long!
In celebration of National Rehabilitation Week, Encompass Health Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital patients and employees enjoyed a special puppy parade.
Several dogs from the Warrick County Humane Society and were guided by employees around the outside of the hospital.
Patients were encouraged to sit by their windows during this time to participate in the parade. This event was a much needed distraction in this difficult time of COVID-19 and added visitation restrictions.
Ashley Grider and Ashlee Evans, students from University of Southern Indiana, were proud to carry the banner. Hannah Riney, a patient, was excited to participate because she is missing her own dog from home.

The individual costume winner was Helen Wagner, HIMS director. She was the magical mermaid, Ariel.
