What is inpatient rehabilitation? | Encompass Health
As we wrap up National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, Janell Briscoe, chief executive officer at Encompass Health City View takes a moment to talk about our hospital expansion currently in progress. Additional patient rooms along with an expanded therapy gym, pharmacy and dialysis area will allow us to continue to serve the growing Fort Worth community.
In the United States, more than 795,000 people have a stroke each year. Encompass Health City View provides a Joint Commission certified stroke rehabilitation program to patients. Jessica Heroux, speech therapist and therapy team lead, takes a moment during National Rehabilitation Awareness Week to explain more about how we educate our patients on life after a stroke including treatment for dysphasia and modifications to diet.
As we continue National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, our director of therapy operations Sheryl Moresco introduces our hip fracture rehabilitation program and the importance of bone health consultations and fall prevention. Joining her is Kristine Pruitt, a board certified physician assistant from the Center of Osteoporosis & Bone Health, who explains how she collaborates with the therapy team to help transition the patient from inpatient to home by determining what caused the hip fracture and how to prevent it in the future.
During National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, we continue to highlight disease specific conditions and the treatment programs we offer. Tara LaFevor, physical therapist and therapy team lead, talks about the common types of brain injuries we treat and the importance of rehabilitation.
