The Lodge at Montgomery Bell State Park project, designed by EOA Architects, renovated the existing 96,000 square foot facility in Burns, Tennessee including 117 guest rooms, a conference center, kitchen, restaurant, parking, and swimming facilities. A Ribbon Cutting was held on October 1, 2020 for the $12 million revitalization and the new space is now open for guests.

Design has a diversity problem. The 2019 Design Census by AIGA reported that 71% of designers are White and only 3% are Black. Reshaping the face of design, starts with design education. In this discussion, Nashville Design Week and Austin Design Week join together for the first time to explore efforts to increase diversity and access in design education across two cities and multiple design disciplines.
In this session, we will speak with educators, community organizers, and nonprofits to explore why design has lacked diversity for so long and what efforts are being done to change the makeup of the industry.
Delve into the importance of creative outlets and training for our underserved youth, how college recruitment is changing for Black and Brown students, and where additional opportunities lie to broaden access and inclusion in the design industry.

Safe Haven Family Shelter is the premier shelter-to-housing program in middle Tennessee that accommodates families experiencing homelessness.
They have almost four decades of experience in the changing field of family homelessness.

Anita got her Masters in Architecture from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design. Originally from Philadelphia, she worked in New York City before moving to Nashville in 2019. She has experience working on mixed-use and multi-family projects as well as single-family houses and townhomes. Outside of work, Anita can be found scoping out all of the playgrounds and food spots in East Nashville with her husband and 1-year old daughter, Harriet. We are very excited to have her join our team!

Work is progressing on our Red Oak Flats for @nashvillemdha within the Boscobel III development. These units will serve low-income residents as well as provide market-rate housing and compliment our almost-completed Red Oak Flats on the adjacent property.

EOA has been working with the St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Bowling Green Kentucky, since 2018 on the restoration of their building. While exterior efforts are coming to a completion, the interior restoration of the sanctuary has just begun. Conrad Schmitt Studios began the interior renovation work this month and current efforts include plaster repair as well as removal of the non-original white paint which is starting to reveal the original decoration/paintings within the sanctuary ceiling, walls and columns. The timeline is 4 to 6 months for completion. We can’t wait to see this transformation!!
