As a scientist at heart, I carefully look at all of the information pertaining to a patient’s condition in order to help them with their nervous system disease. To build a complete picture, I consider what my patient tells me, their symptoms and what I learn from examining them. I combine that knowledge with current information and research about their condition to help find the best outcome for them.
An important part of my care is educating my patients about their disease. I want to make sure they understand their disease and what they can expect from my treatment. Epilepsy and neuro-ophthalmological diseases can be very complex, so I want to minimize any surprises for my patients.
Just as important is helping my patients take ownership of their health care. This often includes helping them make changes to their nutrition and exercise habits, as well as finding ways to help reduce their stress. It’s fulfilling to use my knowledge and expertise to help my patients live their best lives.
