Thank you for your participation in this week’s National Stand Down to help increase our team’s awareness on Heidknowledge of identifying hazards associated with falls, mitigation controls we can implement to prevent falls , and the focus you took to educate your team on why fall prevention is essential to construction. For our final topic this week, please review ESI’s Roof Access Permit system and the site specific fall protection plan to be completed by each subcontractor on site. It is imperative that when working at heights appropriate fall protection measures are in place and more importantly, the plans have been reviewed and discussed with the superintendent prior to executing any work at heights. Today is the second day of OSHA’s National Fall Protection Week. The theme for today is focused on leading edge identification and protection. Guardrails are physical barriers put in place that help prevent people and objects off a leading edge. Key items when constructing guardrail systems include selection of material, type of fasteners to be used, and sound construction methods. Guardrails are not meant to be leaned on by people or for materials and tools to be posted against. Guardrails should be inspected daily or any time workers are working in the immediate vicinity. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In our continued Relentless Pursuit of Safety, ESI joins construction companies across the nation in recognizing OSHA’s National Fall Protection Week.
Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 320 of the 1,008 construction fatalities recorded in 2018 (BLS data). Those deaths were preventable. The National Safety Stand-Down raises fall hazard awareness across the country in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries. Our committed safety team will be presenting materials to our team in lieu of our annual in-person stand-down, aligning with COVID’s unique challenges and emphasizing ESI’s value of the safety and health of its teams, subcontractor teams, and community.

FEATURED PROJECT: The Clara

The Clara project consisted of new garden style apartment buildings and a clubhouse. The apartment buildings within the complex, named after the daughter of the founder of Eagle, Clara Aikens, are on over 20 acres of new landscape, parking, roadways, and outdoor amenities. ESI was proud to serve as the General Contractor for this stunning new addition to the Treasure Valley.
