September is Healthy Aging Month! 💙💜
As we age, health becomes more important to develop healthy habits as we get older.
6 Tips To Make The Most Of Healthy Aging Month:
1) Stay social! (with safe social distancing of course 😉)
2) Be proactive: Get regular check-ups and yearly physicals.
3) Be positive in conversations and your actions every day.
4) Show them pearly whites! Research shows people who smile more often are happier.
5) Get moving! Go for walks, walk the dog.
6) Maintain A Healthy Diet
Sept. 21-25 is Falls Prevention Awareness Week!
Falling is not a normal part of aging. Every 11 seconds an older adult visits an emergency room for a fall related injury.
Here are 6 steps you can take to reduce your risk:
1) Find a balance or exercise program
2) Talk to your doctor, ask them to assess your risk of falling
3) Review medications with your doctor. They’ll know which medications can increase your risk of falling
4) Get your vision and hearing checked every year
5) Keep your home safe. Bath mats in the shower, grab bars, keep home well lit
6) Talk to your family. Ask for their support to help stay safe.

We don’t realize how much our bodies allow us to do on a regular basis – that is, until we can’t do them anymore.
Whether you’re recovering from an injury, illness or joint replacement, physical and occupational therapy can help get you back on your feet to do more of what you enjoy.
So what is physical vs occupational? How are they different? Why choose therapy services from Ethos Home Care?

October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) month.
Contrary to popular belief, SCA is not a heart attack.
A heart attack occurs when blood flow through the heart is obstructed. SCA occurs when there’s an electrical problem within your heart and is often caused by an undiagnosed heart condition.
It is the cause of more than 350,000 death each year. But with proper prevention and bystander response could bring that number down.

Thank you, Midco! 🥳🎉
With support from the Midco Foundation, Ethos received a grant of $1,500 to enhance our telehealth patient monitoring program to promote aging in place.
This helps empower seniors to live safely and independently with the use of Health Recovery Solutions (HRS) telehealth patient monitoring. HRS telehealth is a remote care platform located within the home care patient’s home that allows clinicians to monitor, communicate with and visualize patients at high risk for hospital readmission alongside those on track with their recovery care plan. This platform allows clinicians to receive high-risk alerts and intervene early-on and accordingly to mitigate emergency department visits.
Enriching the quality of living for those we serve!
Happy Veteran's Day!
Today we honor those who have fought and continue to fight for our freedoms.
Thank you.
Personalized care, empowering life.

Meet our Associate Chaplain Volunteer Sister Juli Caron. Juli has worked in health care here in Fargo-Moorhead for over 36 years first as a nurse and then as a chaplain.
She has always had a desire to support patients and families at end of life.
"Because I'm a chaplain, I'm often called to be with patients who are dying. I just want to be a peaceful presence. To pray and be there for them."
When asked why she volunteers her spiritual gifts with hospice she said, "this is the closest I can be to heaven. It's something that touches my heart, that I can't put into words."

Choosing a home health care provider can be challenging, especially if you aren’t sure what to look for.
Hiring the right home health care provider can improve your loved one’s quality of life and help you reclaim your role as spouse or child rather than a daily caregiver.
If your loved one qualifies for home care and you’re researching caregiver options, consider these seven factors that can make your decision a bit easier.

As we head into this week of giving, we are reminded that we are giving and receiving something much bigger than money or goods. When we give, we share the love of God.
"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." - James 1:17 NIV
Donate gently used or new cds to give our patients the gift of music for Giving Hearts Day.
Our patients love music from icons such as Elvis Presley and Lawrence Welk. Other popular genres are classic country, big band, and music of the 50s and 60s.
