January 4, 2021: PLEASE READ ALL of ANNOUNCEMENT.....
Last week Governor Kemp announced phase 1A will now be extended to those over the age 65 and first responders , along with the previous healthcare workers and those in long term care facilities.
This is a great expansion. Please understand our agreement with DPH is to provide this vaccine as a service to our community and is not exclusive to Evans Medical Group patients. We are unable to reserve, save, hold, or create a list of people who want the vaccine. It will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis when available and we will utilize this platform to notify of distribution times so please subscribe to our link for more information when available, and if a patient, please do not wait for an appointment for the vaccine as it may not be available.
Due to social distancing requirements, all registration will be done outside, so please pay attention to daily temperatures and weather conditions and dress appropriately as you may have to wait.
We received a small shipment today. We will hold our vaccine clinic:
Tuesday 01/05/21 From 8am-until the vaccines are gone.
Thank your for your patience and as always we look forward to serving our community.

January 12, 2020. We are currently OUT of the Moderna COVID19 vaccine. Thank you again for your patience. As of date, we have been able to give almost 800 first doses of the vaccine! Thank you again to our staff for working on days off and our volunteers for helping. Please watch our post for updates on coming vaccine administration clinics.
One question we keep having is, “how do I get the second dose of the Moderna COVID19 vaccine?”
Those that had the vaccine were given a card at the time they got the first dose. Your second dose should be done 28 days OR LATER. We are coming close to some of you needing the second dose! In the coming week we will be offering 2 types of vaccine clinics: FIRST DOSE COVID19 VACCINE and SECOND DOSE COVID19 VACCINE. Continue to follow this page for updates on dates and times. As you are aware, due to social distancing we have to let you wait outside, so we are trying to follow weather forecasts to make appropriate decisions for future dates.
Thank you
We are out of COVID vaccines. Keep checking back if you want to try to get one here, or you may schedule an appointment with the local health department.
Second COVID19 vaccine dose: If you have received your first dose from our office on or before January 6th, we just received confirmation for all these doses. Our office will be calling you to schedule your appointment slot. Please be patient as we make these calls. If you are not available, we will leave your appointment time on your voice mail. PLEASE BRING YOUR WHITE COVID VACCINE CARD so we can document your second dose for your records.
Here is a link to another source for the COVID vaccine in the CSRA: https://covid.augustahealth.org/vaccine/
If you are desiring the vaccine - you should try this option as I am sure AU will get far more doses than we will or any pharmacy. Please remember - we have no control of shipments - please do not wait on our office if this option works for you.

Thursday, February 18 - UPDATE on COVID19 (Moderna) Vaccine Clinics. Please read this entire update. We Realize it is lengthy.
Due to weather in other parts of the country, there is delays in vaccine shipments.
2nd Dose Clinics - All patients who have gotten their first doses at our office BEFORE 2/4/2021 have been scheduled for their second shot. If you have not received a call with an appointment, please contact our office. After 2/5/2021 doses will be scheduled and you will be notified prior to your second dose due date. If you are a patient of our office and we did not give you the first dose, you must go to the place where you got your first dose to complete the series. Please do not call our office requesting a second dose from us. Distribution for second doses is based on a sites first doses given. Please bring back your white COVID vaccine card. Thank you for understanding.
1st Dose Clinics - at the bottom of this post there are the links to many other locations in GA or SC clinics. Though it may not seem as easy as people think it should, we are much better off than other areas of the state, and country. Our local Department of Public Health has done a great job in managing the overload of calls they have received. Also, University Hospital and Augusta University have really stepped up on local delivery events! Finally, we should also thank the Augusta National and local churches for utilizing their facilities to hold these mass distributions. This vaccine is in high demand and has complexities in administration that have been obstacles each of us as distributors have tried to overcome. We also do see a more steady supply of vaccine! We have also been in communication with DPH with a means to still provide public/community vaccine, but still be able to operate to care for our established patients - so we are going to have adjust future clinics. Please read the entire message before posting your question as we have tried to answer many of them here:
Future EMG 1st dose clinics:
Please read the entire post prior to calling. Due to the unpredictability of the weather and need for social distancing we are going to attempt to make appointments for vaccine with some limitations. We will be providing 1st dose clinics as availability of the vaccine is present. We will not schedule appointments for a vaccine unless we know we have the doses to give.
Due to DPH regulations - all persons must be a Georgia resident, even if you are an established patient. (Though a federal vaccine, it is given to state coordinators to administer to their residents). Unfortunately, being a border city adds this complexity - but if you are a SC resident, you must get through the SC Health Department resources.
If you already have an appointment somewhere else (AU, UH, HD, pharmacy) - please do not make another appointment, even if your appointment with us or another place could be earlier. People who do this cause vaccine distributors to scramble to find someone to take a dose for fear of having to throw away a vaccine due to the limited expiration time. Please respect the complexity of the situation and make only one appointment.
YOU MUST meet phase 1A+ criteria: 65 or older, healthcare worker, first responder, long term care facility. Even if DPH changes the phase, we will not change the phase on our distribution until you see a new update on the post. We do not know when the phases change and are not given any earlier notice than you are, but please do not call if you do not meet the criteria until you see an update post that we have moved forward. Our staff was trying to answer of 150+ calls per hour at one point.
If you are our established patient, the easiest way would be send a “portal request” for an appointment and we will let you know if we can schedule your appointment or if we are putting you on the “waiting list”. If you can not use the portal, feel free to call during business hours and we will help you. Remember, you must meet phase 1A+ criteria.
If you are not our established patient, you will need to call. If we have any availability we will make you an appointment once we get your demographic data. We will then require you get us a copy of your photo ID and copy of insurance card 1 day prior to that appointment (if Medicare we need your Medicare Card, NOT your supplemental policy or replacement policy) - come to our front desk and our staff will make the copy. If we do not have appointment availably we will attempt to keep a waiting list, but with the increased number of doses it may be easier to use the AU or UH availability. Again you MUST meet phase 1A+ criteria and be a GA resident.
A registration table will be set up outside - please arrive 5 min prior to the appointment time to check-in. Pending room availability inside you may be asked to wait in your car or outside. Due to social distancing and the need to care for our regular patients we can not have you wait in the lobby.

March 2, 2021: Next week, on March 8th, the groups eligible for the COVID vaccine in Georgia will include Educators and staff (Pre-K, K-12, DECAL licensed or exempt childcare programs); adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their care givers; and parents of children with complex medical conditions. COVID19 Moderna Vaccine - APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE for GA residents ONLY per DPH (SC can not get vaccine at GA delivery site, even if a patient - sorry but that is the rule) - see previous post for full information. But if you meet criteria for 1A+ (see previous post) and are a patient - send us a portal message or call the office today. We still have 1st dose appointments available for this Tuesday or Thursday - and next week. If you are not a patient, please call so we can register you and get your information prior.

March 25, 2021 - Today in GA Governor Kemp has opened COVID19 vaccination to all residents over age 16. (our office is only providing Moderna COVID 19 vaccine so we can not vaccinate until age 18 or older) Below is a great article from the Augusta Chronicle on how you can get vaccinated. SC residents still have some restrictions. As a reminder, Evans Medical Group is now only vaccinating established patients that are GA residents (due to state limitations) and due to the large volume of people wanting the vaccine, and limited supply provided by the state to our office, it most likely will be easier to find another vaccine site at this time (AU is doing a great job thanks to the Augusta National providing the old Steinmart building). Currently we are not able to provide any NEW appointments until Mid April. If you are provided a vaccination outside our office and are an established patient, feel free to use our patient portal and attach a picture of your white COVID19 vaccine card once competed to a portal message so we can update your chart - this will allow us to have a backup copy of your card for documentation, including the vaccine lot numbers in the event you lose your card. Check our previous post for other resources, or here is the article from the Augusta Chronicle: https://www.augustachronicle.com/story/news/coronavirus/2021/03/24/covid-19-vaccinations-where-get-one-augusta-area/4660151001/

March 17, 2021: Update on COVID Vaccination Clinic.
Phases have increased to all GA residents 55 and older; and those under 55 with certain medical conditions (see link for complete details): https://dph.georgia.gov
SC residents have increased to similar requirements (see link for complete details): https://scdhec.gov/covid19/covid-19-vaccine
As vaccine availability has broadened to more groups and access has increased within the CSRA, Evans Medical Group will only be offering vaccinations to established patients who are residents of the state of Georgia (per state regulations). All non-patients who currently have appointments will be honored, and if you received the first dose with our office, then we will complete your series.
We have been excited to be a part of the delivery of the COVID vaccination to our community and working with the Department of Public Health in being a piece of the delivery system.
If you are an established patient, a GA resident, and meet criteria, please call or send us a portal message requesting for an appointment and we will get you scheduled for vaccination. If you are a SC resident, per state regulations, we will not be able to administer you a vaccine, however below are links to providers in the CSRA who are working with your state health department to deliver to you the vaccine.
We currently only offer the Moderna 2 shot series vaccine. The state of GA has not offered us the Johnson Johnson vaccine as of yet.
Our community has been very fortunate in the efforts of Augusta University (MCG), the Augusta National, local Health Departments, and University Hospital in providing large vaccination sites to the CSRA. For non-patients, this will be a much easier option. Here are some links to help you get vaccinated:

Thank you again to all our volunteers who helped navigate patients through the office, and maintain social distancing. Also, a thank you to our staff for being willing to come in early, work days off, and take on extra duties to help prepare for the clinics.
