AND THE ANSWER TO OUR POST FROM YESTERDAY IS........🥁 FALSE! On average, a person blinks about every 4 seconds. That's a whopping 15 times per minute and 20,000 times a day!! Each blink lasts approximately 1/10 of a second-- which is enough time to lubricate the surface of the eye. Thanks so much to all who participated in our True or False Trivia Tuesday 👏👍

Happy Friday, Friends! Eye Specialists of Indiana is excited to announce that we will be opening our doors for cataract and refractive surgeries starting on Monday, May 11 🎉 We have spent many weeks preparing our facilities for a safe return of patients and staff. We have worked hard to be proactive for the impact Coronavirus (COVID-19) may have on patients, guests, staff, and facilities. 🚨To help keep all of us safe, we have implemented the following guidelines:🚨 📅Schedules- Our clinics and surgery center will begin to offer our regular services starting May 11th, as stated above. This will include cataract and refractive surgery, clinic visits, and evaluations. Our daily patient volume will be limited to ensure the health and safety of our patients, family members, and ESI staff. 👥Patient screening- All patients will be called prior to their clinic or surgery appointment to screen for any symptoms or risk factors for the COVID- 19. Patients will be encouraged to attend their appointments alone. However, if a family member or a friend accompanies the patient, they will be limited to one person per patient. Prior to entering our facilities on the day of their scheduled appointment(s), all patients and family members will be screened for COVID-19 signs and symptoms, including temperature🌡and oxygen saturation levels being checked. Patients will be asked to sign a COVID- 19 consent form, stating that they understand and accept our COVID-19 procedures. Patients will not be allowed to enter our facilities if symptoms or fever are present. All patients and family members will be required to wear a mask. 😷 They will be encouraged to bring their own, or one will be provided for them prior to them entering our facilities. If using our transportation 🚗, ESI drivers will be screening patients and family members with temperature and/or oxygen saturation levels prior to entering our vehicles. 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️Staff Screenings – Eye Specialists of Indiana immediately implemented the policy for daily pre-screening staff beginning on March 7, 2020. All staff entering our facilities have temperatures and oxygen saturation level checked when arriving to our facility. Staff members have been instructed to stay at home if showing any symptoms of the virus. Doctors and staff are required to wear masks and at all times when in the facilities. Training inservices are ongoing for all staff members to keep them up-to date on evolving CDC recommendations and guidelines. 🏥Facilities - We are abiding by CDC guidelines. Our waiting areas have been rearranged to accommodate social distancing. All surfaces and equipment will be disinfected between patients. Hand sanitizer will be readily available in all public areas and required upon entering our screening tents. 🧼👏 We know this has been a very challenging time for everyone-- THANK YOU for your patience, understanding, and support. We are honored to care for our patients and we look forward to seeing you all again SOON! 💙
