9 years ago today this photo was taken in Philly near where we first met. (Doobies or Loie, depending on who’s telling the story!) We said our vows in the Magnolia Garden that day, and I’ve been the luckiest person in the world ever since. Happy anniversary, Gita! #luckyme #family
With everything going on around us every day, I find myself stopping to smell the roses a little more than usual! Luckily we have these beautiful ones in bloom in our #downtownslc office! Even behind our masks we can all appreciate this everyday treasure. Hope everyone has a great and safe weekend!
Blog is up! Can Eyelid Exercises Fix Droopy Eyes? Click the link in bio to read. For you plastic surgery nerds out there, check out these illustrations from our chapter on brow lift surgery to learn about the concept of Facial Thirds emphasized by Powell and Humphreys in their 1984 text: Proportions of the Aesthetic Face. It’s a page-turner for real. Actually it’s mostly pictures so I really read it 😂 Take-home point: facial balance is good, aging skews that balance. Easy, right? Visit us at the Eyelid Center of Utah if you’d like to learn more. @ Salt Lake City, Utah
Pranks are a big part of our ethos at the Eyelid Center of Utah. If we aren’t laughing together then we haven’t accomplished anything. Especially with everything going on around us (#maskuputah), laughter is so needed! ⠀ ⠀ So in response to my April Fools Day “bring a donut box to the office with no donuts in it” prank (worked beautifully), my spectacular medical assistant Bailey took it upon herself to get some revenge on my birthday. I had to buy a Pelican case for taking to our other offices, and I thought I had hit the jackpot when I found one that matched our logo colors perfectly. When I asked Bailey to get the case ready for our Draper clinic, she decided that she needed to take my logo to a new level 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️😆😆😆⠀ ⠀ Ok Bailey, challenge accepted. @ Eyelid Center of Utah
Want some COVID related good news? Hard to find I know. But read on. Even prior to COVID, I wore a mask all the time. As a surgeon, it’s a way of life. For those that aren’t used to it, I get it! It’s uncomfortable at first, especially with our heat the last few weeks. But take a look at this graph by columnist @robert_gehrke of the @sltrib to understand how masks decrease case counts and save lives. The State of Utah currently is among 18 states in the White House Red Zone, but has no statewide mask mandate. However, as of 6/25 when @governorherbert allowed a mandate in our county (the biggest in Utah), counts in our county have stabilized and are going down. The rest of our great state? Climbing. And not the good kind of climbing that Utah is famous for. In this graph, the red line is Salt Lake County, the gray is all the other counties combined. Lesson? Mask mandates work! Even if not everybody wears one. We can beat this. If you’ve been wearing a mask, take heart that your individual effort is making a difference. If you need numbers to back it up, here they are.
Happy Thanksgiving from the Eyelid Center of Utah!🍂🧡
Last but certainly not least, special congratulations to the honorees for the Marvin Quickert ASOPRS thesis award! Dr. Quickert was known for his inventive, creative approaches to Oculoplastic surgery and whose career was cut short by tragedy. In honor of him, the thesis award is dedicated to his memory. Dr. Alison Watson at the Wills Eye Hospital was awarded the prestigious award for her work on 5-FU and Microneedling. Fabulous work Dr. Watson! Special recognition to her co-honorees who reached the final round, Dr. Wesley Brundridge and Dr. Anne Kupcha. It is TREMENDOUSLY difficult to even get your thesis into the top 3 and all of these works will be published in the scientific literature. Congratulation to you all for your accomplishments and thank you for your hard work to move our field forward!
Our next group of YASOPRS stars from our annual meeting this weekend were Dr. Liza Cohen and Dr. Rohan Verma who won the Bart Frueh award for best presentation. This is very hard won! Congratulations to you both! #eyelidscience #yasoprs #eyelidexpert

Calling all YASOPRS! Mentorship = My Lifeline. Check your email for a survey link. I look back at this photo from 2017 and remember how much work - and help from mentors - it took to be inducted into the @asoprs_society as a member. @jasminabajricmd and @drmariesomogyi have developed a needs assessment survey so we can build a program for YASOPRS members for career advice, job transitions and practice building. Please check your email for a link and DM me if you didn’t receive it. It literally will take you 2 min. Your response will make a huge difference!
