Family Animal Services has been handling and caring for your pets after they are gone since 1994. We have a sensitive approach to handling the loss of your pet you will not find anywhere else. Conveniently located in Portland, OR we serve the Portland Metro area as well as Vancouver, WA and surrounding areas. Facing the loss of your pet, whether expected or sudden can be a very traumatic experience. At times it can be overwhelming and pet owners may be confused as to how to handle the loss. Sometimes the thought of leaving your pet at the veterinary clinic is very uncomfortable and some families with pets choose to take care of the body of their loved one in other ways. Pets have become a part of the family and that is why pet owners often wish to deal with the death of their companions through burial or cremation. Pet cremation is a much more delicate alternative to other means of disposing of your loved one. Through cremation, pet owners are able to make the decision to keep their pets with them, or to spread or bury their companion's ashes somewhere that may have held a special meaning. Either way, with cremation, pet owners are able to memorialize their pets. Cremation is not just for dogs and cats, but for animals of all sizes. There are also many different options as to the method of cremation that is right for you. Although we wish our pets could live forever, there comes a time when we realize we have to let them go. There are many reasons that people may choose to cremate. Whether you want to keep your animal with you or spread or bury the ashes, it is a sensitive alternative. We offer many ways for you to memorialize your pet and can help you choose what feels right for you. We accept walk-in clients, work with veterinary clinics and we will also make house calls if needed. Family Animal Services wants you to understand the different kinds of cremation options that are available to you. Whether you have decided to cremate through your veterinarian or through the crematory, you will need to decide what type of cremation is the right choice for you and your pet. When you choose to do an individual cremation, your pet alone will be placed in the cremation chamber. When the cremation process has been completed, your pet's remains are removed from the chamber, processed and are available to you. A Viewing Cremation is a similar process to an Individual Cremation as described above, however, the pet owners along with friends and family are allowed to be in the viewing room during the cremation process. By choosing Communal Cremation, your pet will be cremated along with other pets and you will be unable to receive the remains after the process. A standard urn is provided for those who are taking their remains home to keep, bury or spread. You also have the option of placing your pet's remains in a special urn of your choice. We have several memorial products and urns for you to select from including standard urns, jewelry and stone plaque memorials. You may be surprised at the ways you can remember your beloved and faithful pet.
