As we head into the fall season, Family Medicine and More continue to offer Telehealth visits and also to see patients in clinic. We are screening patients on the phone and anyone with COVID-like symptoms are having Telehealth visits, they call from parking lot, and we test them in the parking lot. COVID has a wide spectrum of symptoms that are not always obvious. Anyone with ill symptoms of any kind are seated in a separate waiting room from people who are coming in for well visits. Staff all wear masks and gloves and carefully disinfect equipment and surfaces after each patient visit. We hope you all remain safe and healthy. We are here when you need us.
Here is a shout out to any of you who are sewing face masks and can spare a few for the clinic. Due to the nature of a clinic, and the number of people we have coming through in a week, we are asking everyone to wear masks while at the clinic. I am burning through supplies of surgical masks too quickly. If you have your own mask, please wear it to the clinic. If you are gifted with the ability to sew, we would greatly appreciate a few cloth masks.
Family Medicine and More Clinic is open again to see patients in person. Dr. Gunnett will continue to offer Telehealth visits when appropriate.
The Family Medicine and More Clinic is adhering to the "safe distancing" policies. We are not seeing patients in clinic until further notice. It will likely be mid-May before we re-open to regular clinic visits. For many health issues, we are finding that telehealth visits are working just fine. Video apps, such as Zoom, are pretty simple to download and use on a cell phone, laptop or tablet. Even a phone call can be done if video is not practical. These visits are particularly good for 3 month medication refill visits. Obviously, not so good for physicals! In many cases, patients get a lab test done prior to the call, we discuss results and continue, or adjust, a treatment plan. You can call to set up a telehealth visit, just like you would schedule a regular clinic visit. Even new patients are welcome to schedule a telehealth visit.

In response to COVID-19, the FMM clinic is still open to see patients. but is implementing several measures to keep patients and staff safe. We have a waiting room and exam room for well patients, and a separate set for ill patients. We are screening patients over the phone. Patients with high risk of COVID exposure, need testing and are directed to an appropriate facility. We do not have the test, and are not seeing those patients in clinic. Over the next 6 weeks, Dr. Gunnett will also set up phone appointments, for some medical problems. This will allow at risk patients to stay at home, but still get follow up care in order to get medication refills as needed. Call Holly in Reception to schedule.
We are excited to be working with a new electronic medical record that will allow us to offer Patient Portal! Another great change at Family Medicine and More is a new billing company to better insure that claims are handled properly and efficiently. They are local, in Hawtha, and will be able to address individual issues on a one-to-one basis.
