Not all work we do is cosmetic. Oculoplastic surgery involves many types of surgeries around the eyes, including fracture repairs, like for this patient. On his first visit, this patient’s left eye would not elevate. If the inferior rectus muscle is entrapped in orbital floor fractures, that is considered a surgical emergency to relieve the entrapped muscle so it does not become necrotic. Luckily for this patient, the muscle was not entrapped, but tissue around the eye (the periorbita) was snagged on the fractured orbital floor. This required a fracture repair to enable the patient to look up and eliminate his double vision. One week after surgery, he’s able to look up fully without double vision. 👀

Some patients without an eyelid crease desire a more prominent appearing eyelid crease or a natural looking “double eyelid”. This patient wanted to be able to wear makeup but did not want to look dramatically different. She wanted to see more of the eyelid between her lashes and eyelid crease, necessitating a surgically created double eyelid. She loves her results!
