Our Commitment to Equity.
Note, this is from our agency and not associated with Farmers Insurance or any other company we may represent.
This last week and a half has been heartbreaking and infuriating as the killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor and the video of the murder of Ahmaud Arbery were made public. It has also been retraumatizing to our community members of Color, particularly our Black community members, as it has been a reminder of past and current injustices. Our agency is committed to creating a community of equality that is a safe and welcoming place for all people, and a workplace that through its words and actions is anti-racist and upholds the dignity and worth of each individual.
We speak from a place of privilege and power. We invite our White colleagues, neighbors and fellow community members to hear the call to action to embrace our responsibilities to work against racism, to call it out when we see it, to have difficult conversations and take action when necessary. We ask you to help create a more diverse and inclusive society which expresses comfort and joy with human diversity; to increasingly recognize injustice; and to have the will to act against prejudice. If we do not act now, we continue the cycle of discrimination and injustice through acceptance. We must recognize inaction trains our children and promotes a society where this is not just tolerable but acceptable, possibly even encouraged.
To the members of our community who are hurting, who are exhausted, scared and angry, we see you. We encourage you to take care of yourselves in whatever ways that you are able. We are here to listen to you. We will work to make this world an equitable place for you and your family and children. We stand with you.
