Dr. Fathi Ali graduated from Garyounis University in Benghazi, Libya with a bachelor in law degree and went on to earn a medical degree from Al-Arab Medical University in Libya. Later he completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Toronto in Canada. After his residency, Dr. Ali completed fellowship trainings in cardiology at the University of Calgary and University of Ottawa, a fellowship in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Ottawa, and a fellowship in interventional cardiology from the University of Calgary Medical School. He occupied several academic posts in Canada then in the US where he served as an assistant professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University before moving to private practice.
In 1999, Dr. Ali was awarded with The Gold Star Award of Teaching from the University of Calgary Medical School. He is also a fellow of several professional societies including the American College of Cardiology, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and Heart Rhythm Society. Moreover, his work has been published in several scientific journals, including the Journal of American College of Cardiology Intervention (JACC Intervention).
Dr. Ali is board-certified in cardiovascular disease, clinical cardiac electrophysiology, and interventional cardiology. He has a passion for
medical education and has helped in setting up and running several online educational websites. In his free time, Dr. Ali enjoys computer software design, playing soccer, writing a political blog in Arabic, hiking, and travelling with his wife and 4 children.
