Have you ever considered hiring a college intern? If not, we highly encourage that you do! We recently had to say goodbye to Shelby Ward, a college student from Seattle University that we hired for the months of June through September. Shelby is now beginning her senior year, pursuing an undergraduate degree in business administration. We were so fortunate to have her with us over the summer, taking care of many projects we struggled to find time for. Meanwhile, Shelby was able to apply what she had been learning at school to real business situations, in addition to gaining financial and accounting skills to pursue her career goal of becoming a Certified Financial Planner. She appreciated working with a smaller local company because it gave her the opportunity to learn about the many different departments in a business. We are so thankful for her time with our agency and wish her the best!
Here are a few things to remember as our state continues to fight wildfires.
Can you run your A/C? Yes. Make sure to set your fan to on so it is constantly filtering the air. If you have a fresh air system, be sure to turn it OFF until air quality improves. If you have a window air conditioner, close the outdoor air damper. If you cannot close the damper, do not use the window air conditioner. If you have a portable A/C with a single hose that is vented out a window, do not use it right now.
Keep windows and doors shut.
Check your furnace filter. Does it need to be changed? Also, set your furnace fan to on or circulate so it is constantly circulating your air.
Continue to check airnow.gov to monitor when it is safe to go outside.
Do not add indoor pollution to your home such as burning a candle or incense.
September is National Preparedness Month which helps promote family and community disaster planning now. Here is what you should know:
1.) Know your emergency plan (before, during or after a disaster)
2.) Have emergency supplies and know how to perform life-saving skills.
3.) Understand your current insurance coverage (we can help with this!)
