The story about the restaurant name is fourfold. First off, we live in Northern Lake County and are blessed with hunting, fishing and outdoor recreational opportunities. Also, camo is one of our favorite “colors”. So, we have adopted a Hunter theme as to the store appearance and the uniforms. We also will have fun with some of our special items such as our “catch of the week” for our fish fry on weekends and some of our clever pizza toppings – venison sausage topping anyone?
Second, “Five Deer” is actually a nickname for Carrie (also known as “Anna”). Steve and Carrie’s home in Lindenhurst backs to a seven acre common area that serves as a deer crossing. The deer are a favorite of our grandchildren. The deer often are seen in a pack of five. Thus Carrie soon became Grandma Five Deer.
Third, Carrie and Steve have five grandchildren: Addy, Harper, Lilly Ann, Willa, and JD. They love Grandma’s Mac & Cheese and having “ice cream for life!” Now they will soon have a pizza favorite.
Fourth, we have five core values: Fabulous food; Farm to Table; Fresh not Frozen; Fun environment; and Family oriented.
