“There may have been a time as workplaces have unfolded where there is this expectation that when you get to work, you silo yourself off [...] But I can tell you: my experience over the last 15 years of managing people and managing teams is that people bring their whole selves to work. All of the issues happening at home, what’s happening in the world around them, their health concerns - you know - depending on where they are generationally and if they are raising children, if they are taking care of parents, they are bringing their whole selves to work."
How do you as a leader show that compassion?" || Nichole Solomon
Have an excellent first day of fall. 😊
For tomorrow's #talktuesday with John Kueven of Wellstar Paulding Hospital and Wellstar Health System, read his blog and see where he's coming from as a senior leader in healthcare to best combat COVID19.
Then tell us: have you (or how have you) adjusted your processes as a response to the pandemic? Make sure to shout out your organization!

Today is #nationalcakedecoratingday! Here's a throwback to last year's Examiner Training in Tallahassee wherein our resident cake decorator & then Executive Assistant, Bethany, brought in a beautiful fall creation for our wonderful trainees! See anyone you recognize? 🎂
Today, our Board of Directors and Sterling staff met to talk governance structure, our partnerships, the Criteria, and how we can further engage with our customers. Exciting stuff is happening - stay tuned!
Spotted: Examiners at work during Day II of Examiner Training! 🥳
Today, let's give it up to Miami-Dade Parks for attaining CAPRA reaccreditation - we're talking a national recognition, y'all. See their post for more info.
Are we thrilled for them? Yes! Proud? Absolutely. Surprised? Not one bit.
In 2009, Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department earned the Governor's Sterling Award. In 2013, they earned the Sustained Excellence Award. This February, they hosted and helped coordinate our South Florida Performance Improvement Summit (doesn't that feel like years ago now?). Today, they are nationally recognized for overall quality of operation, management, and service to the community.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! 🤩

So proud of our Miami-Dade County Parks team for officially attaining the CAPRA reaccreditation (Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies).
Consisting of 151 standards, CAPRA is the only national accreditation of park and recreation agencies and is a valuable measure of an agency’s overall quality of operation, management, and service to the community.
This was a true team effort, congratulations! #CAPRACertified

Yesterday concluded our first iteration of Examiner Training, & today we would like to showcase #TEAM3. With a steady dose of pizzazz, everyone here went above and beyond the call of duty to learn and grow amongst other high-performing employees. And hello, don't you love the Zoom backgrounds?! 🤩

This enables me to do my job, take care of things at home, and still provide my customers and volunteers with the personal service they deserve. Thank you Sterling Council.

"As leaders, by definition, we do our work through other people, and yet how easy it is to lose sight of that, to focus on the amount of work - the tasks, the output, the jobs to be completed.
The irony is, the more you focus on the quality of those human connections, the greater your quantity of results is likely to be.
There will be other crises to lead through and by focusing on the human-centric workplace, you can lead your people with truth, hope, and confidence." Cory Godwin | Director of Jail Operations, Walton County Sheriff's Office
