Dean attended an Ameriprise presentation, called, “The Power of Feeling Your Best”. The presenter, Chris Johnson, talked about the keys to a healthy lifestyle:
- Avoid taking anti-inflammatory pills
- Breath deeply through your nose to build up your lung capacity
- Sleep seven to nine hours a night to get the REM sleep that rids your body of trash
- Set aside daily personal time, which Chris calls White Space
- Eat balanced foods---not too acidic, like potato chips, and not too alkaline, like potatoes
- Eat superfoods---flaxseed, chia seeds, cod liver oil, and food with green chlorophyll (kale, spinach, broccoli and green algae)
- Get your carbs from apples, figs, bananas, asparagus and beans; your protein from eggs, chicken, walnuts and salmon; and your fats from avocado, salmon, walnuts and olive oil
- Do strength training (pushups, squats) daily and keep your body moving throughout the day
- Practice intermittent fasting for 12-14 hours each night
- Hydrate with water and lemon juice as soon as you wake up
