After a long uncertain wait, the time has come for my son Ben to leave for Cornell. We are taking him to Ithaca on Friday and returning hopefully without him on Sunday. We are as apprehensive as all of you taking your precious child to college hoping they will be safe. The office will be closed from Friday afternoon until Monday morning. We finally have power in the shopping center. I’m sorry to hear that many of our clients and friends still don’t. After sitting in the dark for the past 2 days, we will be open all day tomorrow. We hope this message finds you and your pets safe and healthy. As Suffolk county has now become a Covid-19 hotspot, we are now instituting stricter precautions at the animal hospital. When you make an appointment, you will be instructed to wait outside our door. Only your pet will be allowed inside. Dr. Luckow will speak with you before and after the procedures are performed. If you need any medications or prescription foods, please call ahead so it can be waiting for you. A credit card payment in advance will help us to expedite your order. We will bring the order to you. Appointments and surgery are available, but our hours may fluctuate . Thank you for your patience and understanding. Have a happy Passover and Easter.

UPDATE. Veterinary hospitals are deemed an essential service. We are trying to maintain our normal schedule with modifications as this crisis continues. In an effort to protect you and us, we are allowing one owner with their pet(s) into the hospital at a time. We will let the next patient know when they should enter the building so we can eliminate crowding. Procedures that don’t require examinations like heartworm tests, Lyme or Leptospirosis vaccines will be done in the back without the owner so we can move you in and out faster. If you need Dr. Luckow for a full examination, whether it be a yearly or for an illness, our regularly disinfected exam rooms will be used.
If you need your pets medications, or prescription food, please call ahead so we can have them waiting for you. If you choose, paying in advance with a credit card will allow my staff to meet you at the door so you don’t have to enter the building.
We are trying not to schedule patients one after the other but we can’t always anticipate what each pets needs are. If it gets crowded by our door, please respect each other’s space. We will get you in as soon as possible.
We are as new to this as you, life as we all knew it has changed and we will do our best to stay available to you and your pets. Be safe. Dr. L

As 2020 finally comes to an end, we want to take this opportunity to wish all of our wonderful clients and their pets a happy, healthy and safe holiday season. As such we will be taking a few well needed days off. We are closing at 2pm Tuesday November 24th and will reopen Friday November 27th. We also will be closing at4pm on both Christmas and New Year’s Eve. We will be open the day after Christmas, but taking a long New Years weekend, reopening on Monday January 3rd 2021! Be well. Dr.L
