Foundations Progressive Learning Center is a modern, forward-thinking learning environment for children ages three to six, where students engage in natural, creative, and active learning. Our students learn with a balance of working one-on-one with teachers, cooperatively in small groups, and independently with practical life skills. The Montessori Method of education, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children from birth to adulthood. Dr. Montessori’s Method has been time tested, with over 100 years of success in diverse cultures throughout the world. Emergent curriculum is a way of planning curriculum based on the students' interest and passions. To plan an emergent curriculum requires observation, documentation, creative brainstorming, flexibility and patience. While we prepare the children for kindergarten, our curriculum also incorporates self-help and independence skills most schools don't teach, such as buttoning and zipping clothing, tying shoes, pouring and serving their own beverages and food, picking up after themselves, conflict resolution, and learning healthy emotional management.
