Dr. Agrawal is truly changing lives. He helped my son through oral immunotherapy for peanut. My son used to have anaphylaxis with just one bite of peanut. Now 3 years later, he is on maintenance with 6 peanuts. He is cleared for cross contamination. He is able to play baseball, eat at a regular lunch table, ride the bus, sleepover at a friend’s house, go to parties, and celebrate holidays without the worries of a severe peanut reaction. Dr. Agrawal takes time to understand. He provides custom dosages and treatment. When we had issues at 5:00am, we would text him on his personal cell phone and he responded quickly. Dr. Agrawal’s wisdom, expertise, and calm demeanor create a marvelous experience. Dr. Agrawal’s practice of medicine reminds me of a Hippocrates quote “where ever the art of medicine is loved, there is also the love of humanity.”

It is Halloween-Eve is your Switch Witch Ready? In case you have never heard of her, she is a GOOD witch that visits your house on Halloween night while kids sleep, takes their Halloween candy, and switches it for an awesome toy. It's a great way to reduce the risk of an allergic reaction, and for kids without food allergies, a great way to get the junk food and sugar out of your house!

“Top U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulators said on Saturday that most Americans with allergies should be safe to receive the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer Inc and Germany’s Biotech SE.
........We’re telling people that unless they’ve had a severe allergic reaction to the vaccine, or one of its components, they can receive it,” Dr. Peter Marks, director of the FDA division that authorized the vaccine, said at a press conference.
....... The FDA advised people with allergies to consult with their doctors to make sure that they are not allergic to any of the component of the vaccine.”

Covid-19 Vaccine and Food Allergy Patients
With the new Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine available in the UK, there have been 2 reported cases of allergic reactions in patients with allergy history. We do not currently have all the details of these 2 reactions, and it is unknown if these were immediate or delayed responses.
We want to provide information on what we currently know:
-- There is concern regarding contraindication for Covid-19 vaccination and patients with food allergies, but we want to reassure our patients and parents that there is no need to worry as specific details of the reactions are unknown currently.
-- According to the MHRA in the UK (similar to CDC in US) and British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, patients with a food allergy or a single medication allergy are not believed to be at significantly increased risk of an allergic reaction to the vaccine.
When the vaccine becomes available in the US, we will evaluate the recommendations and regulations for all patients. There is a possibility our allergy clinic may give the vaccine once available and observe patients in clinic for a period of time. (For example, there was previous contraindication for flu vaccination in patients with history of severe egg allergy. Current recommendations from organizations, such as the CDC and American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (AAAAI) are that these patients can safely receive the flu shot in a medical setting.) Allergists are well-trained to recognize, counsel and handle allergic reactions and anaphylaxis.
We will update as more information becomes available.
