The French Academy DC is a small French school whose mission is to offer flexibility, tailor made and personalized service to anyone wanting to learn French. Our small size allows our team to work intensively on the curricula, exchange information faster, and prepare classes according to the needs of our students. Our instruction is based on immersion, which can be first a bit challenging, but will have you working proficiently faster than you might expect. Our methodology aims at re-creating a natural language environment with tasks and dialogs that one would encounter living or working in a French speaking country.
Classes and levels:
We offer classes for adults, businesses and organizations, English and French speaking children, as well as private tutoring at all levels of proficiency, with dedication to the highest standards of teaching quality.
All our levels match the CEFR (Common European Framework for Languages), so it's easy for you to know where you should start. If you don't know your level yet, we can assess it. If you are a beginner, it's easy: just start at the blue 1 level!
Blue: Beginner (A1)
White: Elementary (A2)
Red: Intermediate (B1)
Gold: Upper Intermediate to Mastery (B2-C2)
Locations:
We want to have the flexibility to be where we're most needed. That's why we're happy to come to you, giving in-house classes at your place of business or at home. We are dedicated to helping employees of businesses and organizations becoming more proficient in French, and therefore we are specialized in teaching in house French classes. That’s why we don't have a building where all our classes are happening. For standard group classes, we rent rooms at different convenient locations: business offices on K str (Farragut DC), in Alexandria (a room in a more casual setting in a town house), and classrooms in Chevy Chase (DC) (at the Baptist Church) for children classes.
If you want to visit a location, please contact us before for an appointment, since we are not present all the time at the same location, and the rooms are mostly used in the evening to host group classes.
